Hannah-Cait Harrison and David McCulloch are two actors, with a passion for new writing and a desire to provide a safe and creative platform for it.

They met in 2017 in a South London Theatre after taking part in a creative writing month called “28 Plays Later”, the premise being that each and every day for the month of February, they would receive a new prompt to write an original short play from. After a month of non-stop writing and hair pulling, the pair met at the annual get-together.

Hannah-Cait knew instantly that the pair would hit it off, arriving to the get-together at 11am to find David already there, with a half drunken pint in hand! Hannah-Cait’s immortal first words to David…

”Where’s the bar?”

During the course of the day, there was a great deal of musing about the sad fact hundreds of plays had been written over the past month, but that there was little-to-no space in which they could be shared and performed. It was here that our intrepid co-founders sparked an idea.

What if there was a theatre company which focused solely on new writing? A company started by writers and actors, and one that wants to hear from new writers and actors from all backgrounds?

A month later Hannah-Cait and David met again, came up with the company, and so GAMMA RAY THEATRE was born.
